Department of Education: Cleveringa Institute

Quality Assurance in education and the organisation of education is carried out by the Cleveringa Institute. Its tasks include:

  • the development of education policy and innovations in education
  • the student administration and teaching schedules
  • study and career counselling for students
  • ICT support for teaching
  • monitoring quality in education and teaching

Named after...

The Cleveringa Institute is named after Professor Rudolph Cleveringa, professor of Commercial Law and Civil Procedure and Dean of the law faculty during the Second World War. He became famous for holding a speech on 26 November 1940 to protest against the Nazi’s measure to remove Jewish professors from the university.  He was imprisoned twice by the Germans during the war.
