Security Affairs

The Security Affairs (VHZ) department deals with all issues relating to safety and security. The department helps to ensure that Leiden University’s students, staff members and visitors are as safe as possible at all times.

Security Affairs: our services

  • Providing comprehensive safety an security advice to the Executive Board and faculty boards;
  • Managing, adapting and monitoring compliance with the safety and security policy as established by the Executive Board;
  • Monitoring safety and security across the university;
  • Setting the framework for crisis management;
  • Advising on organising sensitive events;
  • Advising and providing guidance on cases relating to a safe environment and concerning behaviour;
  • Coordinating personal security;
  • Coordinating contact with external security parties on multiple issues
  • Informing students and staff on safety and security: for example advising students and staff who are travelling abroad.

Position within the university

Security Affairs is part of the Management Support team at Administration and Central Services.
