Faculty thesis prize for master's students
The faculty thesis prize was established in 1994 and is awarded to the three best master's theses from the past academic year. Theses with a grade of 9 or higher may be submitted by the supervisors.
There are three prizes: €1000, €800 and €600. The prizes are funded by the Stichting Oukha. The award ceremony takes place during the faculty’s New Year Reception. The winner of the faculty thesis prize then has a chance to win the Leiden University thesis prize.
Procedure
In September, supervisors of students with a thesis grade of 9 or higher will be notified if they wish to nominate the student. The jury, composed of a member of staff from each of the faculty’s institutes, assesses the submissions. The new chairman of the jury is Barend Barentsen. Bart Krans chaired the jury from 2016 to 2024.
