University Services Department

The University Services Department (Dutch: Universitair Facilitair Bedrijf, UFB) provides facility services for the entire university. By working both in a customer-oriented and market-oriented manner, the UFB contributes to a pleasant working environment for employees and students.

What does the UFB do?

  • Provides a service desk for all questions regarding facilities.
  • Provides all copying and printing services. Handles printing (color and black-and-white) through the graphic centre, such as posters, exams, dissertations, and business cards.
  • Handles all matters related to mail and transportation.
  • Manages staffing for the various reception desks within the university. 
  • Is responsible for workplace and building facilities (cleaning and landscaping).
  • Manages lecture hall support and planning.
  • Provides catering for all food and beverage facilities within the university.
  • Provides the logistics and planning of exams at the large exam locations (USC and Spui building) through the Central Exam Service (CTS).
  • Is responsible for all European, national, and other procurement procedures for the entire university.

Position within the university

The UFB is one of the seven centres of expertise of Leiden University and has a two-tier structure. Its central management is based in the Willem Einthoven Building. In addition, each building or cluster has a facility manager. This cluster facility manager is responsible for local facility services and acts as the primary point of contact.
