Ethics Committee

The Ethics Committee promotes ethical research by providing advice on ethical issues and reviewing all new research conducted by staff in which ethical issues might occur. Are you starting a new research project? By using the checklist, you can determine whether your research needs to be presented to the committee for an ethics review and Statement of Ethical Clearance. The committee is part of a broader effort by the Faculty and University to promote ethical research, for example by the support related to data management offered by the Information and Data Management department of the Faculty,

The committee does not review research conducted by students (BA and MA/MSc). The supervisor/instructor is responsible for assessing whether research conducted by students is ethically acceptable.

Grant applications will not be reviewed by the committee. Only research for which funding is available can be submitted to the committee (in the case of externally funded research, after the grant has been awarded).
