The Marketing & Communications Department of the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs (FGGA) supports the Faculty Board and Faculty Office, as well as the two centres, the Dual PhD Centre, the Centre for Professional Learning, and the three institutes of the faculty: the Institute of Security and Global Affairs (ISGA), the Institute of Public Administration, and Leiden University College The Hague.

Our role

Through our activities and expertise, we ensure that students, staff members and external audiences are kept well informed about FGGA’s education, research, and other activities. In addition, we advise institutes, centres, programmes and researchers on their marketing and communication challenges, as well as event-related matters, with the aim of further strengthening the faculty’s visibility and impact in The Hague, across the Netherlands, and internationally.

Our activities

We are responsible for a wide range of activities and advisory services in the field of communication, marketing and public information. Our tasks include, among others:

  • providing strategic advice and implementation in relation to communication and marketing for bachelor’s, minor and master’s programmes, as well as professional education;

  • coordinating and organising marketing activities, such as Open Days, Trial Study Days and Student-for-a-Day events;

  • offering strategic advice to support internal communication directed at students and staff;

  • editing and coordinating newsletters and other internal communication tools for students and staff;

  • advising and supporting the organisation of internal and external events at the faculty, institutes and centres;

  • coordinating and managing communication surrounding graduation ceremonies, including advice on organisation and coverage through the website and social media;

  • managing, further developing and safeguarding the quality of the faculty website and social media channels;

  • providing strategic advice on science communication, including making research accessible and enhancing its visibility;

  • press relations and media contacts, advising and supporting researchers and administrators in strengthening their external visibility.
