Who is entitled to vote
Everyone who, on Monday 26 October (the reference date), is employed under an appointment with Leiden University, Faculty of Humanities, is entitled to vote. This group should therefore be included in the electoral register.
On 27 and 28 October, the electoral registers will be available for inspection at the polling stations, and requests for correction may also be submitted. The inspection period is two days.
Student assistants generally exercise their right to vote within the student constituency. Other students employed by the university exercise their right to vote within the staff constituency. Persons employed by NWO or comparable organisations and working at the University are also entitled to vote; they are advised to check, during the inspection period for the electoral registers, whether they have also been included.
You can confirm that you have been included in the electoral register by sending a request to the relevant polling station on 27 and 28 October 2026; on these days you can also submit a request for correction of the electoral register. Requests must be submitted via uMail or your ULCN account (work e-mail).
Candidate nominations
If you are interested in taking an active role in participation and representation (medezeggenschap), you can put yourself forward as a candidate on Tuesday 27 and 28 October 2026. The forms for this are available here. The nomination period is two days.
On 29 October, the polling stations will announce their decisions regarding the candidate nominations submitted. Should any omissions be identified that can be rectified — such as an insufficient number of signatures from eligible voters supporting the nomination — there will be an opportunity to do so in accordance with the schedule above.
Appeal
If you disagree with a decision made by a polling station regarding a candidate nomination or the correction of the electoral register, you may lodge an appeal no later than the fourth working day after the day on which the decision was taken, with the Elections Chamber of the Committee for Appeals and Objections (CBB@bb.leidenuniv.nl).
Appeals against decisions regarding the rectification of omissions in candidate nominations may also be lodged with the Elections Chamber in accordance with the schedule above.
Voting via the internet
Please note! The voting period is four days!
The elections are held entirely via the internet. To vote, you must use your ULCN account. From 15 November 2026 (7:00 hours), you can log in to the elections application with this account. You can cast your vote up to and including 18 November 2026 (16:00 hours). Voting is possible from any device with an internet connection.
