HOVO (University of the Third Age, U3A)
HOVO organises academic courses for people who are aged 50 and older. These courses do not result in a diploma, nor do they train participants for a profession. This means that there is ample opportunity for learners to pursue their personal interests. People attend HOVO courses because they enjoy them, for their personal growth, to keep up with current ideas, and to exercise their minds.
Courses consist of between six and twelve sessions for groups of some 40 attendees. In many cases, the teachers are former lecturers of Leiden University.
