Computer emergency response team
Responsibility
The computer emergency response team of Leiden University (CERT-LEI) is an expert group that handles computer security incidents. The team consists of several Leiden University IT professionals. Its mission is to coordinate the resolution of IT security incidents and to help prevent such incidents from occurring. CERT-LEI is not responsible for the implementation of the recommendations made.
What does CERT-LEI do?
- Coordinates security incidents and makes operational recommendations, such as blocking addresses or networks.
- Pro-actively advises its constituency with regards to recent vulnerabilities and trends in hacking/cracking.
- Advises on matters of computer and network security.
- Decides the statuses of reported incidents (normal priority versus emergency).
Position at the University
CERT-LEI operates under the Operations department of the ICT Shared Service Centre (ISSC).
