Board of Examiners

The Board of Examiners is responsible for the coordination and effective organisation of the exams and final examination of the degree programme.
The Faculty of Science hosts 11 Boards of Examiners, each with its own chairman. Each degree programme, or cluster of programmes, is represented by its own board. The Faculty also hosts a mandated Board of Examiners for the Master specialisations ‘Science-Based Business’ and ‘Science Commuinication & Society’.
The members of the Board of Examiners are knowledgeable on the subject of the degree programmes and are often staff members who are involved in the education of the degree programme.
Tasks of the Board of Examiners
- Safeguarding the quality of the tests and examinations;
- Appointing examiners;
- Approving of (deviations of) the content of the degree programme of a student;
- Granting exemptions;
- Approving of choice within, or adjustments in the programme or extra ECTS;
- Granting additional resits of examinations;
- Handling complaints regaring examinations;
- Approving of programme components taken outside the university or abroad;
- Providing the binding study recommendations (on behalf of the Faculty Board).
