Management Team

The Management Team (MT) is responsible for all matters concerning the Institute for Area Studies. The MT consists of three people.

Academic Director

The Academic Director (WD) has the overarching responsibility for the Institute’s management, the academic quality, and the quality of the doctoral programmes, and research. The Academic Director is directly answerable to the Faculty Board and also represents the Institute, both within and outside the Faculty of Humanities, and promotes internal and external cooperation.

The Academic Director of LIAS is Ab de Jong.

Director of Education

The Director of Education (OD) is responsible for the teaching activities of the Institute. They plan and coordinatre staffing and evaluate the teaching programmes.

The Director of Education of LIAS is Rint Sybesma.

Institute Manager

The Institute Manager (IM) oversees operational affairs of the Institute, such as finances, personnel and the internal organisation of the institute.

The Institute Manager of LIAS is Pia Teeuwen.
