Requesting an extra resit for a remaining master’s course

Students who have passed all but one of the courses that count towards the Master’s examination can submit a request for an extra opportunity to resit this last course to the Board of Examiners. The Board of Examiners for Education and Child Studies will only consider requests for an extra resit in the master’s programme in Education and Child Studies if the missing course meets a number of conditions. The course:

  • may not be the Master’s internship;
  • may not be the Master’s project;
  • must comprise two or more constituent examinations, which together count towards a final mark. Students who have been awarded a fail for one of the constituent examinations can request an extra resit of this examination. Students who have been awarded a fail for more than one constituent examinations within a course must retake the whole course.
  • a student has participated in both the first examination opportunity of the course and the regular resit, unless there have been circumstances (to be specified in the request to the Board of Examiners).

If the board grants a student an extra resit opportunity for a last master’s course, this must be taken on Monday 19 August 2024. The Board of Examiners sets a single date for the extra resit and does not make any exceptions. Requests for an extra resit on Monday 19 August 2024 must be submitted to the Board of Examiners by email before 1 August 2024.
